Commander’s log #001

My name is John Shepard. I was born April 11th, 2154. I graduated from the Systems Alliance N7 Special Forces programme, and was assigned to the SSV Normandy in 2183. I went on to become the first human Spectre, an elite task force for the Citadel Council, keeping order across the galaxy.

My parents were in the Alliance military; it’s what sparked my own interest in enlisting when I turned 18. We were always on the move, never staying in one place for more than a few years. My parents are, to my knowledge, still in the military, but I am unaware of their current whereabouts.

I rose quickly through the Alliance ranks, proving myself time and time again in the battlefield, as well as in the council rooms. Early on in my career, I faced an overwhelming enemy force. It was a mission gone wrong; we were fed bad intel. I was forced to put my life at risk to save my fellow soldiers, and together we went on to complete the mission, and defeat the enemy forces. I earned many medals from that day, including the highly sought-after ‘Star of Terra’. But I do not care for the medals; I only care for the lives I saved.

In later saving Joker, pilot of the Normandy, and a friend, I gave up the last remaining shuttle to save his life. In doing so, I chose to seal my fate.

But, after plummetting to the planet below, I was saved and reconstructed by the organisation Cerberus. An untrustworthy organisation of galactic terrorists, I was forced to work with them to protect the galaxy.

I eventually broke away from them and rejoined the Alliance. Not trusted by many, I still fought for the good of the galaxy. Other people’s opinions didn’t really matter to me, long as if they were safe.

Then the Reapers came. Now here we are.

That’s my story; what’s yours?
